Terms of Use

Last updated: 14 August 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Code Brew Studio Pty Ltd, ABN 57 678 003 248 ("we", "us"), the Australian operator of the Tape recorder service at use-tape.com. By using Tape you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

The service

Tape lets you record your screen, camera, and microphone in the browser, download recordings, host uploaded recordings, generate AI titles, summaries, key points, and transcripts, and share recordings via public links. You must be at least 13 years old to use Tape.

Your content

Your recordings are yours. You retain all rights to the content you create with Tape. By uploading a recording, you grant us the licence needed to operate the service: to store it, process it (including AI processing you request), and, when you publish a share link, display it to people who visit the link. This licence ends when you delete the recording or stop sharing it.

You are responsible for what you record and share. That includes obtaining any consent required by law when you record other people, and having the rights to any material that appears in your recordings.

Acceptable use

Don't use Tape to:

  • break the law, or record people where recording them is unlawful
  • upload content that is abusive, exploitative, or infringes someone else's rights
  • distribute malware or attempt to breach, probe, or overload the service
  • circumvent plan limits, share-page passwords, or access controls

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.

Plans and billing

The free plan includes unlimited local recording and download, with limits on hosted videos and AI runs. Tape Pro is a paid subscription (billed in Australian dollars via Stripe, monthly or annually) with expanded limits subject to fair use. We may adjust free-plan limits over time; existing uploads are never deleted because a limit changes.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time via the billing portal in the app; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including its consumer guarantees.

AI features

AI-generated titles, summaries, key points, and transcripts are produced automatically and may contain errors. Check them before relying on them.

Service changes and availability

Tape is provided "as is". We work to keep it available and your content safe, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service, and we may change or discontinue features. You should keep your own copies of recordings that matter to you; the download button exists for a reason.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Tape, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Where the Australian Consumer Law or other law gives you rights that cannot be excluded, those rights prevail over this clause.

Termination

You can stop using Tape and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms. On termination we'll delete your hosted content within a reasonable period, except records we must keep by law.

General

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia. If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the date above; continuing to use Tape after changes means you accept them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. Questions: support@use-tape.com.
